The Snells Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant has been designed to support the growing communities of Warkworth, Snells Beach and Algies Bay by taking over more than half of Warkworth’s wastewater flows for the next 35 years. Ventuer supplied a combination of weather and acoustic louvre systems, delivering reliable airflow, weather protection and noise attenuation.
The Snells Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant has been designed to support the growing communities of Warkworth, Snells Beach and Algies Bay by taking over more than half of Warkworth’s wastewater flows for the next 35 years.
Specified by Mott MacDonald and constructed by Brian Perry Civil under the Watercare Enterprise Model, the project required engineered louvre systems that met stringent acoustic, ventilation and durability requirements for a critical infrastructure environment.
Ventuer supplied AL-100W and AL-300W acoustic louvre assemblies, complete with bird mesh and mounting angles, for installation within the process building. Selected from Watercare’s Approved Products List, the louvres deliver proven acoustic performance, durability and reliable ventilation for the wastewater facility.
The acoustic louvres are engineered to reduce noise transmission while maintaining the airflow required for mechanical plant and equipment. The AL-100W and AL-300W has a weather-resistant construction and low-pressure loss making them ideally suited to wastewater treatment facilities, where ventilation performance, equipment protection and acoustic control are all essential considerations.
In addition to the acoustic louvres used within the process building, Ventuer supplied a series of VL-2SD High Weather Protection Louvres, complete with bird mesh, which were specified for the workshop to provide effective weather protection and maintain natural airflow.
Together, the acoustic and weather louvre systems achieved a coordinated solution that balanced acoustic control, weather defence and airflow requirements across the Snells Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant, while maintaining a consistent architectural finish throughout the facility.
The completed treatment plant forms the final stage of Watercare's $450 million wastewater programme, providing resilient infrastructure to support regional growth while improving environmental outcomes for generations to come.
