Site 6 is the final stage of Auckland's Wynyard Quarter Innovation Precinct, bringing together modern commercial workspaces, retail and public spaces, with ventilation and acoustic louvres integrated throughout the development.
Site 6 marks the final stage of Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter Innovation Precinct. Developed by Precinct Properties and designed by Warren and Mahoney, the project brings together five commercial buildings across Halsey Street, Pakenham Street and Tiramarama Way. One of the standout features is the striking golden façade of the office building now occupied by Beca.
The architecture features a mix of façade materials and finishes, giving each building its own identity. With such attention to detail, the ventilation and acoustic louvres needed to meet the performance standards without compromising overall appearance.
Each area of the development came with its own requirements, from ground-level and plantroom ventilation to louvred access doors and acoustic screening. Ventuer supplied 52 louvre panels of various sizes across three systems, to suit its application.
For the ground-level and plantroom ventilation, Ventuer supplied the VL-2SD High Weather Protection Louvre. Its two-stage drainable design allows effective airflow and rainwater management, making it a suitable choice for areas where weather protection is important.
The VL-55S Slimline Ventilation and Screening Louvre was incorporated into louvred doors. With a slim 45mm deep blade profile, the system provides ventilation while maintaining a clean appearance and allowing easy access to building services.
Noise from mechanical equipment was another consideration, particularly around the rooftop plantroom. To help manage this, Ventuer supplied the AL-300W Acoustic Louvre. The 300mm deep system provides airflow and noise attenuation, helping minimise the transmission of mechanical plant noise into surrounding areas.
The completed development holds a 6 Star Green Star As Built rating, reflecting its commitment to sustainable design and construction. Across the project, each louvre system plays its part in providing the ventilation, weather protection and acoustic performance needed to keep the buildings operating as intended.
