Louvre Manufacturing Process

What is Aluminium Anodising?

Aluminium louvres can be supplied in a range of finishes. At Ventuer, the three primary options are powder coating, anodising and mill finish aluminium.

Anodising is particularly useful where durability, corrosion resistance and a natural metallic appearance are important. But how does the process actually work?

Rather than applying a coating over the aluminium, anodising is an electrochemical process that converts the aluminium surface into a controlled oxide layer.

The result is a hard, integral finish with a natural metallic appearance while providing increased corrosion resistance. Because the anodised layer forms as part of the aluminium surface itself, it is also less prone to chipping or peeling than an applied coating.

For a closer look at how the process works, the team at Hydro has produced this useful video explaining the aluminium anodising process from start to finish.
