Irregular shaped louvres are more common than many people realise. Whether it's a circular plant room opening, a raking façade or an existing opening being retrofitted, architectural designs don't always suit a standard rectangular louvre. The good news is they don't have to.
At Ventüer, we regularly design and manufacture louvre panels to suit circular, curved, raked, faceted and other non standard geometries. Every panel is custom detailed to match the exact opening while maintaining the appearance and performance expected from a tested louvre system.
Although the perimeter frame changes to suit the shape, the blade arrangement does not. Louvre blades remain parallel and at their tested centres, with only the edges modified to follow the required geometry. This ensures the panel continues to perform as intended while integrating cleanly into the surrounding façade.
Each irregular louvre requires additional engineering to develop bespoke perimeter frames, support mullions and blade layouts. Where larger spans are involved, intermediate supports or sub framing may also be incorporated to maintain stiffness and withstand design wind loads.
Performance remains just as important as appearance. Irregular shapes can affect drainage paths, airflow and weather protection, so these factors are carefully considered throughout the design process to ensure the completed panel performs reliably in service.
While irregular shaped louvres require a greater level of design coordination than standard panels, they are a well established part of what we do. By engaging early in the design process, architects and engineers have greater flexibility to integrate louvres into the architectural façade without compromising performance or visual intent.
